How can the concepts and operations of the mind be embodied in gestures or images, and how can they be recorded and signified through graphic representations? How does this material anchoring of thought form an integral part of it, from its elaboration to its dissemination and sharing? This book brings together studies that explore the way in which thought is nourished by the scriptural and graphic resources it mobilises, in particular schemas and diagrams. It pursues the hypothesis that such an investigation can renew the way in which we conceive of tools for representing, classifying and disseminating knowledge.
